Burrrrrrrrrrr

It's cold in the office today, and I don't mean metaphorically speaking. That's a constant these days. No, for some reason the temperature in here is cooler than usual. I have a long sleeved shirt on and it's still chilly. Turn up the heat, people!

I saw the new Harry Potter flick at a matinee show yesterday with my neice and two brothers-in-law. Very good movie. Definitely darker than the other three.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Don't eat too much.

What say you, Mr. Foreman?

OK, and who voted for the current president? I think this is a nice story of Sen. Kerry. Somehow, I would wager that W would dodge his civic duty.

That was easy

I picked up one of these at Staples yesterday for my boss. I figured she'd get a kick out of it since the next few months may be stressful at work. My buddy, A., has one at her desk and it's a riot, because that's about the mood of things in our place.

I've got nothing...

again. Just blogging for the sake of blogging. The only thing to report is that I'm dismally behind on the NaNoWriMo challenge count. I'm up to 3000 words.

Plus the following news tidbit: Baretta gets busted... civilly speaking.

write, write, write

I guess that's the theme for the day. I'm heading off to the library to do some writing and maybe researching for two papers:

1) a talk I need to write before Sunday for a retreat on Thanksgiving weekend and
2) for the NaNoWriNo contest I'm trying to endure. I should be at 10,000 words but am currently slacking at 1,030, but that's 1,030 words more than I've ever done in the past so I need to get over the hump and just continue.

Denial is not a river in Egypt

Boston's local AM news station is reporting this morning that the White House does not think that all the wins by Democrats across the nation does not indicate a trend and/or reflects on President Bush's recent low ratings. Someone please give whomever is saying this some therapy. The shift has started and next year's elections will, I believe, show the continuing trend. I'm trying to find a news article link about it and will post it as soon as it's located.

On the local front, Salem has elected its first women mayor. Woohoo! Out with the old, in with the new.

Vote Yes on Question No!

If you have an election in your city or town, go on and rock the vote but don't rock the boat! I like Ike! Kerry for President! Down with the man!

OK, I'm a heel.

I was able to help out my co-worker today and get through most of the questions he had before he goes back to his home office on Wednesday. He's been here for five months and we finally got some time for any additional questions he had. He was always pulled into some issue or other that needed to be fixed. Glad I did because he's actually a nice guy and good worker. We actually went for coffee too to shoot the shit for a little while which we've been meaning to do.

Please pass the naan

I was supposed help answer any questions to one of our replacements in the our foreign office, but he came up to me today saying that a customer called in with a priority one bug and that comes first. The problem is that he is scheduled to go home on Wednesday. He is understandably a little disappointed. I told him that we can maybe work in between him working on the P1 so we'll see how it goes. I'm not too worried because I believe I've transferred all the necessary knowledge for him to do his work. Part of me wants to help. Part of me is saying 'whatever'.

Language pet peeve

The use of the phrase "all of a sudden" and people saying "all the sudden".

I heard this phrase being uttered by a seeming intelligent guest on one of the morning shows on NH Public Radio this morning and I just cringed. It just didn't sound right. Am I being too picky? Maybe it's just all the nuns from my elementary and high schools haunting me from my English classes.

Take my breasteseses away.

I saw this on the news this morning and, well, since I'm a guy and my wife says that I'm a breast man...

In Touch Weekly had an online poll on who in Hollywood has the best cleavage. Here are the top 10:

Jessica Simpson, Salma Hayek, Carmen Electra, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Scarlett Johansson, Mariah Carey, Susan Sarandon and Nicollette Sheridan

That's a pretty busty list.

Minty fresh and birthday wishes

Went for my six month cleaning at the dentist today and boy, do my teeth feeling clean. I know I don't brush and floss as often as I should, and 4 out of 5 people don't give a hoot.

Happy Birthday to our 5 year old Boo! He was all excited at Pre-K telling all his friends and his teachers that it was his birthday today. For supper, we took him to TGIFriday's and promptly dirtied my pearly whites with Sesame Jack Chicken Strips. Yummy.

Senior moment?

I was driving baby girl to my parent's this morning as I do most Tuesdays thinking, "Wow, I'm going to make good time today." About 15 minutes from their house (after driving about half an hour) I realized, "Wait a sec, my Dad is unable to take care of baby girl today I think."

I pulled into a supermarket plaza and parked the car. I called my Dad to confirm and indeed today is the day that he's unable to take care of her because of a prior commitment. It was then after hanging up the phone I felt like saying, "F*ck!", or "Shit!", but it wouldn't coincide with the melody of the kids' CD that was playing. It was at this point I was debating whether to just bring baby girl with me to work. Then I thought better of it. Try keeping a 2 year old in a cubicle for eight hours without fuss. I don't think it's possible.

After making calls to my wife and my mother-in-law to make sure it's ok to drop baby girl off with her, I turned around and back-tracked home, enduring another go around of the medley of songs on the kids' CD. After dropping her off at my in-laws, I trekked back toward work, but by this time traffic was lighter so it wasn't so bad.

Moral of the story: Write stuff down as you get older.
