Can you spare a dollar for half a gallon of gas?

Paid freakin' two dollars a gallon for regular unleaded this morning for the first time. If this keeps up, we'll be paying five bucks a gallon by the end of the year. This country needs to find alternative sources of fuel so that the general public is not tied down by the greedy corporate oil companies... and digging in Alaska is not going to help!

jogging and blogging

Went for a 30 minute run during lunch. I wanted to soak up some much needed sun therapy since it actually reached 60 degrees today for the first time in a long while. Spring is finally springing.... We hope.

power vs. manual

So I was driving into work this morning and I needed to stop at an ATM to withdraw some mula. I went through a drive-thru automated teller and rolled down the window and immediately thought, "Shit!". I have power windows and lately for some reason I can roll the window down, but it won't immediately go back up. So I was stuck driving for a while with my window down and trying like a idiot to use the power switch to get the thing to roll back up. Oh, did I mention that it started to rain while this was happening? After a several miles, I drove into a gas station and parked the car next to a pump under the canopy. Luckily after some time, the switch unstuck and the window slowly rolled back up. This, kids, is why sometimes technology can be a hidderance rather than a help.

This blog needs more cowbell

Found the cool Will Ferrell gif file from one of the greatest Saturday Night Live skits ever. My brain is fried because I'm super-tired from the weekend.

SaoMiguelGuy - 0 WifeyPoo - 1

My wife and I went to the dentist for a regular exam this morning for first time in about three years. I was pleasantly surprised that I have no new cavities, but my wife has one that needs to get filled. We were going faithfully every six months prior to our last appointment until my wife got pregnant with our second child. Then we just, uh, forgot?

Well, that's it for now. I have a four year old boy begging in my ear to watch Sesame Street on the computer. La, la, la, la. La, la, la, la. El-mo's Squirrel.

P.T. Barnum may have been right

Or rather his competitor was. I was looking at yesterday's paper and found that a Salem man was auctioning off a Dorito chip that supposedly looks like the Pope's mitre (the tall hat the pope wears). Well, the winning bidder has paid a hefty $1,209 for said chip. OK, you must be thinking, who would paid $1,209 for a dang chip? GoldenPalace.com that's who. They were the winning bidder and the company has probably turned an opportunity by the seller to cash in on some sucker bid to essentially getting paid advertising for themselves. (It makes me cringe that they're getting free publicity from this post.) It's a win-win opportunity for both parties.

The seller actually set up a website for the chip as well. I was looking at the actual photo of the chip and thought, "How many other thousands of chips look like this? Oy.". Only in America, kids.

Literary factoid

The fam and I went to Holy Thursday services tonight and I found out during the homily that Nathaniel Hawthorne's daugther, Rose Hawthorne Lathrop, founded a community of nuns. Her cause as a candidate for sainthood has already been started. Interesting since the Hawthornes have roots in Salem.

Does anyone else have the feeling that, down the road, consumers will be shopping in only one store?

Renew this

I have been reading The Dante Club but I'm not finished and my library renewals are up. Need to go to the library to do the ole switch-a-roo by returning the copy I've been using and checking out another copy.

Missing Greg and other random thoughts...

The morning started off super at work. (He said sarcastically) The chatter level has been increasing slowly as the morning progresses which in turn decreases the concentration level. This section of the building used to be the quietest. Oh how we miss those days.

More randomness to come when inspiration strikes...

VPN and its suckiness

VPN how do I dislike thee
Let me count the ways...

I probably could but it would take me all day to count to ten because of the dang slowness of the connection. Man, this sucks. It seems like everytime I log into work using our VPN connection, it gets slower and slower each time. Thanks for increasing productivity and morale!

Lamenting the Laminate

I finished putting the laminate flooring in the kid's room on Saturday. In order to keep my sanity, I kept praying to St. Joseph for some carpentry help since it was his feast day. The work was tedious and since I'm anal when it comes to projects around the house, it took me most of the day.

Went for a run yesterday outside for the first time in a while. I was getting tired of the treadmill and luckily we had a good day. Ran for 30 minutes by Swampscott/Lynn beach, about 3.2 miles.

Mo Cuishle

Saw Million Dollar Baby last night with mo cuishle and loved it. I can see why all the Oscar hype and why Hilary Swank and "Easy Reader" Morgan Freeman won.

First Thoughts and Other Picture Postcards

This is my attempt of a first bloooooog.

So I was driving into work this morning and as the line of cars scurried up the hill in front of me I was thinking, "I feel like we're a bunch of lemmings."
